رِضاكَ بِالدُّنيا مِنْ سُوءِ اخْتيارِكَ وشَقاءِ جَدِّكَ۔

Increase in [one’s desire for] this world corrupts the Hereafter.

The cause of wretchedness is love of this world.
سَبَبُ الشَّقاءِ حُبُّ الدُّنيا۔

The cause of corruption of the mind is love of this world.
سَبَبُ فَسادِ العَقْلِ حُبُّ الدُّنيا۔

The sovereignty of this world is disgrace and its loftiness is lowness.
سُلْطانُ الدُّنيا ذُلٌّ، وعِلْوُها سِفْلٌ۔

The joy of this world is deception and its enjoyment is destruction.
سُرُورُ الدُّنيا غُرُورٌ، ومَتاعُها ثُبُورٌ۔

One’s seeking tranquillity in [the delights of] this world is from the greatest deceptions.
سُكُونُ النَّفسِ إلَى الدُّنيا مِنْ أعْظَمِ الغُرُورِ۔

The worst of tribulations is love of this world.
شَرُّ المِحَنِ حُبُّ الدُّنيا۔

شَرُّ الفِتَنِ مَحَبَّةُ الدُّنيا۔

The health of this world is [fraught with] sicknesses and its pleasures are [fraught with] pains.
صِحَّةُ الدُنيا أسْقامٌ، ولَذّاتُها آلامٌ۔

طالِبُ الدُّنيا بِالدّينِ مُعاقَبٌ مَذْمُوم ٌ۔

Seeking to join this world with the Hereafter is from the deceptions of the self.
طَلَبُ الجَمْعِ بَيْنَ الدُّنْيا والآخِرَةِ مِنْ خِداعِ النَّفسِ۔

The seeker of this world misses [the opportunity to work for] the Hereafter and death comes to him...
طالِبُ الدُّنْيا تَفُوتُه الآخِرَةُ، ويُدْرِكُهُ المَوْتُ حتّى يَأخُذَهُ بَغْتَةً (بِعُنْفِهِ)، ولا يُدْرِكُ مِنَ الدُّنْيا إلاّ ما...

I am amazed at the one who builds his transient abode and abandons his Eternal Abode.
عَجِبْتُ لِعامِرِ دارِ الفَناءِ، وتارِكِ دارِ البَقاءِ۔

The servant of this world faces continuous afflictions and calamities.
