Just as knowledge guides a person and saves him, similarly, ignorance misguides him and destroys...
كَما أنَّ الْعِلْمَ يَهْدِي المَرْءَ ويُنْجيهِ، كَذلِكَ الجَهْلُ يُضِلُّهُ وَيُرْديهِ۔

The acquisition of knowledge is indifference towards worldly pleasures.
كَسْبُ الْعِلْمِ اَلزُّهْدُ فِي الدُّنيا۔

The perfection of knowledge is forbearance, and the perfection of forbearance is increased...
كَمالُ الْعِلْمِ الحِلْمُ، وكَمالُ الحِلْمِ كَثْرَةُ الاِحْتِمالِ وَالكَظْمِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
The perfection of knowledge is action.
كَمالُ الْعِلْمِ العَمَلُ۔

For the seeker of knowledge, there is honour in this world and success in the Hereafter.
لِطالِبِ الْعِلْمِ عِزُّ الدُّنيا وفَوْزُ الآخِرَةِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Knowledge will never bear fruit until it is accompanied by forbearance.
لَنْ يُثْمِرَ الْعِلْمُ حَتّى يُقارِنَهُ الحِلْمُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
None will attain knowledge except the one who lengthens his [period of] study.
لَنْ يُحْرِزَ الْعِلْمَ إلاّ مَنْ يُطيلُ دَرْسَهُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
The language of knowledge is truthfulness.
لِسانُ الْعِلْمِ الصِّدْقُ۔

The conception of knowledge is imagination and understanding.
لِقاحُ الْعِلْمِ التَّصَوُّرُ والفَهْمُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who seeks right guidance from knowledge, it guides him.
مَنِ اسْتَرْشَدَ الْعِلْمَ أرْشَدَهُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who is alone with knowledge does not feel frightened by [his] loneliness.
مَنْ خَلا بِالْعِلْمِ لَمْ تُوحِشْهُ خَلْوَةٌ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who is not guided by knowledge is misguided by ignorance.
مَنْ لَمْ يَهْدِهِ الْعِلْمُ أضَلَّهُ الجَهْلُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who acts with knowledge attains his goal and desire from the Hereafter.
مَنْ عَمِلَ بِالْعِلْمِ بَلَغَ بُغْيَتَهُ مِنَ الآخِرَةِ ومُرادَهُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who is fond of knowledge has [actually] done good to his soul.
مَنْ كَلِفَ بِالْعِلْمِ فَقَدْ أحْسَنَ إلى نَفْسِهِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Whoever hides [his] knowledge, it is as if he is an ignorant person.
مَنْ كَتَمَ عِلْماً فَكَأنَّهُ جاهِلٌ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who acts against his knowledge, his crime and sin become grave.
مَنْ خالَفَ عِلْمَهُ عَظُمَتْ جَريمَتُهُ وإثْمُهُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One whose knowledge exceeds his intellect, it becomes a burden for him.
مَنْ زادَ عِلْمُهُ عَلى عَقْلِهِ كانَ وَبالاً عَلَيْهِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who learns (or lacks) the depth of knowledge proceeds (or is repelled) from the ways of wisdom.
مَنْ عَلِمَ (عَدِمَ) غَوْرَ الْعِلْمِ صَدَرَ (صُدَّ) عَنْ شَرايِعِ الحِكَمِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who quenches his thirst from the drinking-fountain of knowledge, covers himself with the gown...
مَنِ ارْتَوى مِنْ مَشْرَبِ الْعِلْمِ، تَجَلْبَبَ جِلْبابَ الحِلْمِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who increases his study of knowledge [and discussion about what he has learnt] does not forget...
مَنْ أكْثَرَ مُدارَسَةَ العِلْمِ لَمْ يَنْسَ ما عَلِمَ، واسْتَفادَ ما لَمْيَعْلَمْ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who increases his reflection about what he has learnt safeguards his knowledge and understands...
مَنْ أكْثَرَ الفِكْرَ فيما تَعَلَّمَ أتْقَنَ عِلْمَهُ، وفَهِمَ ما لَمْ يَكُنْ يَفْهَمُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who does not acquire wealth through knowledge, acquires grace by it.
مَنْ لَمْ يَكْتَسِبْ بِالْعِلْمِ مالاً اِكْتَسَبَ بِهِ جَمالاً۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Whoever does not act upon his knowledge, it becomes a proof against him and a curse.
مَنْ لَمْ يَعْمَلْ بِالْعِلْمِ كانَ حُجَّةً عَلَيْهِ وَوَبالاً۔

From the perfection of knowledge is acting upon what it dictates.
مِنْ كَمالِ الْعِلْمِ العَمَلُ بِما يَقْتَضيهِ۔
