اَلعَقْلُ مُنَزِّهٌ عَنِ المُنْكَرِ آمِرٌ بِالمَعْرُوفِ۔

The intellect is an adornment for the one who is endowed with it.
اَلعَقْلُ زَيْنٌ لِمَنْ رَزِقَهُ۔

The intellect gives one a sense of familiarity when he is away from his homeland.
اَلعَقْلُ فِي الغُرْبَةِ قُرْبَةٌ۔

The intellect elevates one to the lofty stations [in Paradise].
اَلعَقْلُ رَقِيٌّ إلى عِلِّييّنَ۔

Verily, when I find a quality from the good qualities firmly ingrained in a person, I judge him...
إنّي إذَا اسْتَحْكَمْتُ فيِ الرَّجُلِ خَصْلَةً مِنْ خِصالِ الخَيْرِ اِحْتَمَلْتُهُ لَها، واغْتَفَرْتُ لَهُ فَقْدَ ما سِواها،...

Verily you are gauged by your intellect, so develop it with knowledge.
إنَّكَ مَوْزُونٌ بِعَقْلِكَ، فَزَكِّهِ بِالعِلْمِ۔

Intellect is nothing but eschewing sin, considering the consequences [of one’s actions] and being...
إنَّما العَقْلُ اَلتَّجَنُّبُ مِنَ الإثْمِ، والنَّظَرُ فِي العَواقِبِ، والأخْذُ بِالحَزْمِ۔

The bane of intellect is self-conceit.
آفَةُ اللُّبِّ العُجْبُ۔

When the intellect is complete, speech decreases.
إذا تَمَّ العَقْلُ نَقَصَ الكَلامُ۔

When the intellect becomes complete, lust diminishes.
إذا كَمُلَ العَقْلُ نَقَصَتِ الشَّهْوَةُ۔

It is through the intellect that the deepest wisdom is brought out.
بِالعَقْلِ يُسْتَخْرَجُ غَوْرُ الحِكْمَةِ۔

Through the intellect, [acts of goodness and] virtues are attained.
بِالعَقْلِ تُنالُ الخَيْراتُ۔

Through the intellect, the condition of the creatures is set right.
بِالعَقْلِ صَلاحُ البَرِيَّةِ۔

Through abundant intellect, forbearance becomes abundant.
بِوُفُورِ العَقْلِ يَتَوَفَّرُ الحِلْمُ۔

Through the intellects, the pinnacle of sciences (or matters) is attained.
بِالعُقُولِ تُنالُ ذِرْوَةُ العُلُومِ (الأُمُورِ)۔

By leaving that which does not concern you, your intellect becomes complete.
بِتَرْكِ ما لايَعْنيكَ يَتِمُّ لَكَ العَقْلُ۔

Perfection of the soul is [attained] through the intellect.
بِالعَقْلِ كَمالُ النَّفْسِ۔

It is through the intellect that every affair is set aright.
بِالعَقْلِ صَلاحُ كُلِّ أمْر۔

The completion of the intellect (or of action) is in its perfection.
تَمامُ العَقْلِ (العَمَلِ) اِسْتِكْمالُهُ۔

The purification of a man is through his intellect.
تَزْكِيَةُ الرَّجُلِ عَقْلُهُ۔

The fruit of intellect is steadfastness [and uprightness].
ثَمَرَةُ العَقْلِ الاِسْتِقامَةُ۔

The fruit of intellect is adherence to the truth.
ثَمَرَةُ العَقْلِ لُزوُمُ الحَقِّ۔
