مَنْ رَأَى المَوْتَ بِعَيْنِ يَقينِهِ رَاهُ قَريباً۔

One who recalls the distance of his journey, prepares [for it].
مَنْ تَذَكَّرَ بُعْدَ السَّفَرِ اِسْتَعَدَّ۔

One who frequently remembers death is saved from the deceptions of this world.
مَنْ أكْثَرَ ذِكْرَ المَوْتِ نَجا مِنْ خِداعِ الدُّنْيا۔

One who is missed by the arrow of death is fettered by old age.
مَنْ أخْطَأَهُ سَهْمُ المَنِيَّةُ قَيَّدَهُ الهِرَمُ۔

One who anticipates death hastens towards good deeds.

One who frequently remembers death is pleased with whatever suffices him of this world.
مَنْ أكْثَرَ ذِكْرَ المَوْتِ رَضِيَ مِنَ الدُّنْيا بِالكَفافِ۔

Whoever frequently remembers death, his desire in [the pleasures of] this world is reduced.
مَنْ أكْثَرَ مِنْ ذِكْرِ المَوْتِ قَلَّتْ فِي الدُّنْيا رَغْبَتُهُ۔

Whoever frequently remembers death is satisfied with the little he possesses of this world.
مَنْ ذَكَرَ المَوْتَ رَضِيَ مِنَ الدُّنْيا بِاليَسيرِ۔

Whoever has [the angel of] death given charge over him, is overrun and annihilated by it.

How beneficial death is for the one who has filled his heart with faith and God-wariness!
