Constant sinning cuts [one’s] sustenance.
مُداوَمَةُ المَعاصي تَقْطَعُ الرِّزْقَ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Openly [and boldly] sinning in front of Allah [without any shame] hastens [divine] retributions.
مُجاهَرَةُ اللّهِ سُبْحانَهُ بِالمعاصي تُعَجِّلُ النِّقَمَ۔

We seek refuge with Allah from the evils of the intellect (or from evil actions) and the ugliness...
نَعُوذُ بِاللّهِ مِنْ سَيِّئاتِ العَقْلِ(العَمَلِ) وقُبْحِ الزَّلَلِ وبِهِ نَسْتَعينُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Far be it! You have not feigned ignorance except because of what has passed before you of mistakes...
هَيْهاتَ ما تَناكَرْتُمْ إلاّ لِما قَبْلَكُمْ مِنَ الخَطايا والذُّنُوبِ۔

Every disobedient one is a sinner.
كُلُّ عاص مُتَأَثِّمٌ۔

Whoever disobeys Allah, his status gets lowered.
مَنْ عَصَى اللّهَ ذَلَّ قَدْرُهُ۔

Woe be to the sinner, how ignorant he is and how much of his share he has relinquished!
وَيْحَ العاصي ما أجْهَلَهُ وعَنْ حَظِّهِ ما أعْدَلَهُ۔

Woe to the one who is afflicted with disobedience, deprivation and abandonment.
وَيْلٌ لِمَنْ بُلِيَ بِعِصْيان وحِرْمان وخِذْلان۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Rushing into vices causes [one to face] the chastisement of hellfire.
اَلتَّهَجُّمُ علَى المَعاصي يُوجِبُ عِقابَ النَّارِ۔

When committing sins, recall how the pleasures will [soon] end and the consequences that follow...
أُذْكُرُوا عِنْدَ المَعاصي ذَهابَ اللَّذاتِ، وبَقاءَ التَّبَعاتِ۔

Be wary of the sins done in seclusion, for indeed the Witness (to it) is the Judge.
اِتَّقُوا مَعاصِيَ الخَلَواتِ فَإنَّ الشّاهِدَ هُوَ الحاكِمُ۔

ألحَذَرَ ألحَذَرَ أيُّها المُسْتَمِعُ، وَالجِدَّ اجِدَّ أيُّها العاقِلُ، ولايُنَبِّئُكَ مِثْلُ خَبير۔

I am amazed at the one who avoids the food that could harm him, how does he not avoid the sin that...
عَجِبْتُ لِمَنْ يَحْتَمِي الطَّعامَ لأذِيَّتهِ كَيْفَ لا يَحْتَمِي الذَّنْبَ لأَليمِ عُقُوبَتِهِ۔

Vice is the endeavour of the filthy.
اَلمَعْصِيَةُ هِمَّةُ الأرْجاسِ۔

How bad a leash is the leash of vices!
بِئْسَ القِلادَةُ قِلادَةُ الآثامِ۔

In every evil act there is retribution.
في كُلِّ سَيِّئَة عُقُوبَةٌ۔

The one who sins knowingly does not deserve pardon.
اَلمُذْنِبُ على بَصيرَة غَيْرُ مُسْتَحِقّ لِلْعَفْوِ۔

Denial [of sin] is persistence [in it].
اَلإنكارُ إصرارٌ۔

The one who sins without knowing is free from sin.
اَلمُذْنِبُ عَنْ غَيرِ عِلْم بَريءٌ مِنَ الذَّنبِ۔

The weapon of the sinner is repentance.
سِلاحُ المُذْنِبِ الاِسْتِغْفارُ۔

عاص يُقِرُّ بِذَنْبِهِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ مُطيع يَفْتَخِرُ بِعَمَلِهِ۔
