Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, and his righteous companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the stark contrast between two individuals in the afterlife. It compares the fortunate one who attains his desires and prospers in the permanent abode (the Hereafter) with the deceived one who loses the bounties of the Hereafter due to his bad choices and wretchedness.

Let us delve into the deeper meaning of this profound Hadith by examining its key words and their implications. The word (maghbuut) "مَغْبُوطُ" refers to the fortunate one who achieves success and prosperity, while (maghbuun) "مَغْبُونِ" refers to the deceived one who suffers loss and deprivation. These words emphasize the divergent outcomes that await individuals based on their choices and actions in this world.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the significance of one's choices and actions in determining their fate in the Hereafter. This aligns with the teachings of the Quran, which repeatedly emphasizes the concept of accountability and recompense based on one's deeds.

Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Imran (3:30):

On the Day when every soul will find present what it did of good and what it did of evil, it will wish that between itself and that [evil] was a great distance. And Allah warns you of Himself, and Allah is Kind to [His] servants.

This verse highlights the individual responsibility and the consequences of one's actions. Each person will be held accountable for their deeds, and they will wish for a great distance between themselves and their evil actions. This serves as a reminder that our choices and actions in this world have a direct impact on our eternal fate.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Isra (17:84), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states:

And say, 'My Lord, cause me to enter a sound entrance and to exit a sound exit and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority.'

This verse highlights the importance of seeking guidance and support from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) in order to make righteous choices and actions. It emphasizes the need for divine assistance in navigating the challenges of this world and securing a successful outcome in the Hereafter.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) Hadith serves as a powerful reminder for Muslims to reflect on their choices and actions in this world. It urges us to strive for righteousness and make choices that align with the teachings of Islam. By doing so, we can attain success and prosperity in the permanent abode, the Hereafter.

Conversely, those who make bad choices and engage in wickedness will suffer loss and deprivation in the Hereafter. This Hadith serves as a motivation for Muslims to constantly evaluate their actions and strive for self-improvement, seeking forgiveness for their mistakes and repenting sincerely.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the importance of making righteous choices and actions in this world. It highlights the divergent outcomes that await individuals based on their deeds, urging Muslims to strive for success and prosperity in the Hereafter. May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) guide us all to make choices that lead to eternal bliss and protect us from making bad choices that result in loss and deprivation.
