Hadith #3518

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon Muhammad, his family, his companions, and the righteous successors.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

مَنْ دارَى النَّاسَ أمِنَ مَكرَهُمْ۔

This can be translated as,

One who is amicable with the people is protected from their plotting.

To further understand the significance of this Hadith, let us turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Hujurat (49:13),

O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.

This verse highlights the importance of knowing and understanding one another as a means of fostering unity and righteousness. By being amicable with others, we fulfill this divine command and contribute to the betterment of society.

Additionally, in Surah Al-Isra (17:53), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) reminds us,

And tell My servants to say that which is best. Indeed, Satan induces [dissension] among them. Indeed Satan is ever, to mankind, a clear enemy.

This verse emphasizes the importance of speaking in a manner that is kind, respectful, and beneficial. By being amicable with others, we not only protect ourselves from their plotting but also safeguard ourselves from the whispers of Satan, who seeks to create discord and division among people.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) statement serves as a reminder for Muslims to embody the qualities of kindness, compassion, and approachability. By doing so, we not only protect ourselves from the ill intentions of others but also contribute to the establishment of a harmonious and cohesive society.

When we are amicable with others, we inspire trust and build strong relationships. This, in turn, leads to a sense of security and protection. People are more likely to confide in us, seek our advice, and support us in times of need. By being approachable, we create an environment where individuals feel comfortable expressing their concerns, ideas, and aspirations.

Furthermore, being amicable with others allows us to positively influence them. Our actions and words have the power to inspire and motivate those around us. When we treat others with kindness and respect, we become role models for them, encouraging them to adopt similar qualities and behaviors.

Conversely, if we are hostile, arrogant, or indifferent towards others, we risk alienating ourselves from society. We become vulnerable to the plotting and ill intentions of those who may harbor resentment or animosity towards us. By neglecting the importance of being amicable, we isolate ourselves and miss out on the blessings and benefits that come from fostering positive relationships.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) teaches us the significance of being amicable with others. By embodying this quality, we not only protect ourselves from the plotting of others but also contribute to the establishment of a harmonious and cohesive society.
