Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

One who builds the abode of his permanent dwelling is truly wise.

This Hadith emphasizes the importance of investing in the eternal life rather than being solely preoccupied with the temporary world. Let us delve into the deeper meanings of this Hadith in light of the Quran.

The word (amara) "عَمَرَ" in the Hadith refers to building or constructing. It signifies the act of establishing something with a purpose and intention. In this context, it refers to the construction of one's (dar iqamatihi) "دارَ إقامَتِهِ", which means the abode of one's permanent dwelling. This refers to the actions and deeds that a person engages in during their lifetime, which will determine their eternal abode in the Hereafter.

To understand the significance of this Hadith, we can turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Ankabut (29:64),

And this worldly life is not but diversion and amusement. And indeed, the home of the Hereafter - that is the [eternal] life, if only they knew.

This verse highlights the temporary nature of this worldly life and emphasizes the importance of focusing on the eternal life to come.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Imran (3:185), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,

Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion.

This verse reminds us that death is inevitable and that the true reward and compensation for our actions will be given in the Hereafter.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) urges us to prioritize the construction of our eternal abode, which can only be achieved through righteous actions and obedience to Allah's commands. It encourages us to be wise and farsighted by investing our time, efforts, and resources in deeds that will benefit us in the Hereafter.

For example, spending our wealth in charity, helping the needy, and supporting noble causes are all actions that contribute to the construction of our eternal abode. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:261),

The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.

This verse illustrates the immense reward and multiplication of blessings for those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah.

Similarly, engaging in acts of worship such as prayer, fasting, and seeking knowledge are also essential in building our eternal abode. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Mu'minun (23:2-3),

Successful indeed are the believers, who are humble in their prayers.

This verse highlights the importance of establishing a strong connection with Allah through prayer, which is a fundamental aspect of constructing our eternal abode.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) reminds us to be wise and farsighted by prioritizing the construction of our eternal abode. It urges us to invest our time, efforts, and resources in righteous actions that will benefit us in the Hereafter. By following the guidance of the Quran and engaging in acts of worship, charity, and seeking knowledge, we can build a strong foundation for our eternal abode and attain true wisdom. May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) grant us the wisdom and guidance to construct our eternal abode and may He bless us with success in this world and the Hereafter.
