Hastening to forgive is from the morals of the honourable.
اَلمُبادَرَةُ إلى العَفْوِ مِنْ أخْلاقِ الكِرامِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Forgiveness is the greater of the two virtues.
اَلعَفْوُ أعْظَمُ الفَضِيلَتَيْنِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Forgive and you will be supported.
أُعْفُ تُنْصَرْ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Pardon and you will be pardoned.
أقِلْ تُقَلْ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Do good to the one who does evil to you and forgive the one who wrongs you.
أحْسِنْ إلى مَنْ أساءَ إلَيْكَ، واعْفُ عَمَّنْ جَنى عَلَيْكَ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Forgive the mistake of your friend, [and] your enemy will consider you to be virtuous.
ِاغْتَفِرْ زَلَّةَ صَديقِكَ، يُزَكِّكَ عَدُوُّكَ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Forgive that which angers you for the sake of that which pleases you.
اِغْتَفِرْ ما أغْضَبَكَ لِما أرْضاكَ۔

Pardon wrongdoings, stave off punishment and overlook that which has not become evident for you.
أقِلِ العَثْرَةَ، وادْرَأِ الحَدَّ، وتَجاوَزْ عَمّا لَمْ يُصَرَّحْ لَكَ بِهِ۔

Accept the excuses of people and you will enjoy their brotherhood; meet them with cheerfulness and...
اِقْبَلْ أعْذارَ النّاسِ، تَسْتَمْتِعْ بِإخائِهِمْ، والقَهُمْ بِالبِشْرِ، تُمِتْ أضْغانَهُمْ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Pardon the errors of the magnanimous, for none of them slips but that the Hand of Allah lifts him...
أقيلُوا ذَوِى المُروُءاتِ عَثَراتِهِمْ، فَما يَعْثِرُ مِنْهُمْ عاثِرٌ إلاّ ويَدُ اللّهِ تَرْفَعُهُ۔

Forgiveness is the best of favours.
اَلعَفْوُ أحْسَنُ الإحْسانِ۔

Forgiveness is the charity of triumph.
اَلعَفْوُ زَكاةُ الظَّفَرِ۔

Forgiveness is the evidence of intelligence.
اَلمَعْذَرَةُ بُرْهانُ العَقْلِ۔

Forgiveness is the symbol of nobility.
اَلعَفْوُ عُنْوانُ النُّبْلِ۔

Forgiveness is the crown of high morals.
اَلعَفْوُ تاجُ المَكارِمِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Many a sin is such that the [appropriate] degree of punishment for it is informing the sinner of it.
رُبَّ ذَنْب مِقْدارُُ العُقُوبَةِ عَلَيْهِ إعْلامُ المُذْنِبِ بِهِ۔

Do not persist in that [action] which is followed by sin.
لاتُصِرَّ عَلى ما يُعَقِّبُ الإثْمَ۔

Forgiveness despite [having the] power [to exact revenge] is a shield from the punishment of Allah,...
اَلْعَفْوُ مَعَ القُدْرَةِ جُنَّةٌ مِنْ عَذابِ اللّهِ سُبْحانَهُ۔

When you have been wronged, forgive.
إذا جُنِيَ عَلَيْكَ فَاغْتَفِرْ۔

Through forgiveness [of others] divine mercy is invoked.
بِالعَفْوِ تُسْتَنْزَلُ الرَّحْمَةُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Overlook despite having power [to punish] and do good while possessing authority, [for by this]...
تَجاوَزْ مَعَ القُدْرَةِ وأحْسِنْ مَعَ الدَّوْلَةِ تَكْمُلْ لَكَ السِّيادَةُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Overlook missteps and pardon mistakes, [for by this] your station will be elevated.
تَجاوَزْ عَنِ الزَّلَلِ، وأقِلِ العَثَراتِ، تُرْفَعْ لَكَ الدَّرَجاتُ۔

Cover up offences with forgiveness, especially for those who possess magnanimity and social...
تَغَمَّدِ الذُّنُوبَ بِالغُفْرانِ، سِيَّما في ذَوِى المُرُوءَةِ والهَيْئاتِ۔

Feign heedlessness [about the mistakes of others] and your affair will be praised.
تَغافَلْ يُحْمَدْ أمْرُكَ۔
