One who is patient in the face of his lust becomes complete in [his] magnanimity.
مَنْ صَبَرَ عَلى شَهْوَتِهِ تَناهى فِي المُرُوَّةِ۔

One who controls his lust is indeed pious.
مَنْ مَلَكَ شَهْوَتَهُ كانَ تَقِيَّاً۔

One who kills his lust rejuvenates his magnanimity.
مَنْ أماتَ شَهْوَتَهُ أحْيى مُرُوَّتَهُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One whose lust increases, [the expense for] his provision becomes heavy.
مَنْ كَثُرَتْ شَهْوَتُهُ ثَقُلَتْ مَؤُنَتُهُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who overcomes his lust, protects his status.
مَنْ غَلَبَ شَهْوَتَهُ صانَ قَدْرَهُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Whoever hastens towards lustful desires, afflictions rush towards him.
مَنْ تَسَرَّعَ إلَى الشَّهَواتِ تَسَرَّعَ إلَيْهِ الآفاتُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who is enticed by lustful desires permits his soul to be a target of calamities.
مَنْ غَرِيَ بِالشَّهَواتِ أباحَ نَفْسَهُ الغَوائِلَ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Whoever controls his lust, his magnanimity becomes complete and his end becomes good.
مَنْ مَلَكَ شَهْوَتَهُ كَمُلَتْ مُرُوَّتُهُ، وحَسُنَتْ عاقِبَتُهُ۔

One who does not control his lust does not control his intellect.
مَنْ لَمْ يَمْلِكْ شَهْوَتَهُ لَمْ يَمْلِكْ عَقْلَهُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who has not remedied his lust by abandoning it is still sick.
مَنْ لَمْ يُداوِ شَهْوَتَهُ بِالتَّرْكِ لَمْ يَزَل عَليلاً۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Multiplication of sins stems from submission to lust.
مِنْ مُطاوَعَةِ الشَّهْوَةِ تَضاعُفُ الآثامِ۔

One who is overcome by lust is more abased than one who is enslaved.
مَغْلُوبُ الشَّهْوَةِ أذَلُّ مِن مَمْلُوكِ الرِّقِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who makes a habit of following [his] lustful desires is overwhelmed by afflictions, is...
مُدْمِنُ الشَّهَواتِ صَريعُ الآفاتِ، مُقارِنُ السَّيِّئاتِ، مُوقِنٌ بِالثَّباتِ۔

Do not exceed the limits in your lust and anger as they will degrade you.
لاتُسْرِفْ في شَهْوَتِكَ وغَضَبِكَ فَيُزْرِيا بِكَ۔

There is no reason with lust.
لاعَقْلَ مَعَ شَهْوَة۔

Nothing corrupts God-wariness but the dominance of lust.
لايُفْسِدُ التَّقْوى إلاّ غَلَبَةُ الشَّهْوَةِ۔

There is no trial [and temptation] greater than lust.
لا فِتْنَةَ أعْظَمُ مِنَ الشَّهْوَةِ۔

How good it would be for people not to desire that which they ought not to [crave for].
ما أحْسَنَ بِالإنْسانِ أنْ لايَشْتَهِيَ ما لا يََنْبَغي۔
