The dignity of forbearance is the adornment of knowledge.
وَقارُ الحِلْمِ زِينَةُ العِلْمِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
I found forbearance and tolerance more helpful to me than courageous men.
وَجَدْتُ الحِلْمَ والإحْتِمالَ أنْصَرَ لي مِنْ شَِجْعانِ الرِّجالِ۔

Do not disgrace yourselves in order to alleviate your anger, and if an ignorant person acts...
لاتَفْضَحُوا أنْفُسَكُمْ لِتَشْفُوا غَيْظَكُمْ، وإنْ جَهِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ جاهِلٌ فَلْيَسَعْهُ حِلْمُكُمْ۔

There is no virtue like forbearance.
لافَضِيلَةَ كَالْحِلْمِ۔

لاظَهِيرَ كَالْحِلْمِ۔

There is no forbearance like feigning inattention [and pretending not to have noticed].
لاحِلْمَ كَالتَّغافُلِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
There is no dignity loftier than forbearance.
لاعِزَّ أرْفَعُ مِنَ الحِلْمِ۔

There is no honour higher than forbearance.
لاشَرَفَ أعْلى مِنَ الحِلْمِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
No one shows forbearance towards the foolish except the intelligent.
لا يَحْلُمُ عَنِ السَّفيهِ إلاّ العاقِلُ۔

One who has no forbearance has no knowledge.
لاعِلْمَ لِمَنْ لاحِلْمَ لَهُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
The forbearance of a person is evinced from his abundant tolerance, and his nobility [is evinced]...
يُسْتَدَلُّ عَلى حِلْمِ الرَّجُلِ بِكَثْرَةِ احْتِمالِهِ، وعَلى نُبْلِهِ بِكَثْرَةِ إنْعامِهِ۔
