Forbearance is one of the two excellent traits.
اَلْحِلْمُ أحَدُ المَنْقِبَتَيْنِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Forbearance during intense rage protects [one] from the wrath of the Almighty.
اَلْحِلْمُ عِنْدَ شِدَّةِ الْغَضَبِ يُؤْمِنُ غَضَبَ الْجَبّارِ۔

Forbearance puts out the fire of rage and acrimoniousness stokes it.
اَلْحِلْمُ يُطْفِيءُ نارَ الْغَضَبِ، والْحِدَّةُ تُؤَجِّجُ إحْراقَهُ۔

Be forbearing and you will be honoured.
أُحْلُمْ تُكْرَمْ۔

Be forbearing and you will be respected.
أُحْلُمْ تُوَقَّرْ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Bear [the actions of others] with patience, otherwise you will never be pleased.
أَغْضِ عَلَى الْقَذى، وإلاّ لَمْ تَرْضَ أبَداً۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Veil [your] anger with forbearance and ignore misconceptions with understanding.
احْتَجِبْ عَنِ الغَضَبِ بِالْحِلْمِ، وغُضَّ عَنِ الوَهْمِ بِالْفَهْمِ۔

The strongest of all people is the one who overcomes his anger with his forbearance.
أقْوىَ النّاسِ مَنْ قَوِيَ عَلى غَضَبِهِ بِحِلْمِهِ۔

The most courageous of people is the one who defeats ignorance with forbearance.
أشْجَعُ النّاسِ مَنْ غَلَبَ الجَهْلَ بِالحِلْمِ۔

Verily the best of characteristics of men is forbearance.
إنَّ أفْضَلَ أخْلاقِ الرِّجالِ الحِلْمُ۔
