Hadith #2618

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

طَلَبُ التَّعاوُنِ عَلى إقامَةِ الحَقِّ دِيانَةٌ وأمانَةٌ۔

This can be translated as,

Seeking assistance to establish the truth is [a sign of] faith and uprightness.

Let us delve into the deeper meaning of this beautiful saying of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) and explore its significance in light of the Quran.

The word (talabu) "طَلَبُ" means seeking or asking for something. In this context, it refers to seeking assistance or support. The word (ta'awuni) "التَّعاوُنِ" means cooperation or mutual help. It emphasizes the importance of working together and supporting one another. The phrase (ala iqamati al-haqq) "عَلى إقامَةِ الحَقِّ" means to establish the truth. It signifies the act of upholding and promoting what is right and just. Finally, the words (diyanah wa amanah) "دِيانَةٌ وأمانَةٌ" refer to faith and uprightness.

To understand the depth of this Hadith, we can turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Ma'idah, verse 2:

And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression.

This verse emphasizes the importance of seeking assistance in matters of righteousness and piety, which aligns perfectly with the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ).
