Hadith #1569

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

Man atlaqa tarafahu kathura asafuhu.

This Hadith highlights the consequences of freely glancing or looking around without restraint. The word "atlaqa" refers to someone who glances or looks freely, without any limitations or control. "Tarafahu" means "everywhere" or "in all directions." And "kathura" means "increases" or "multiplies." Lastly, "asafuhu" refers to regret or sorrow.

Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do.

And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way.

This verse reminds us to stay away from anything that may lead us towards sinful actions. When we allow our gaze to wander freely, we are more likely to be tempted by unlawful desires, which can ultimately lead us down a path of immorality and regret.
