Hadith #4123

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. Peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

On the Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children. But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart.

This verse highlights the importance of having a pure and sound heart in the sight of Allah.

The term (dawam) "دَوَامِ" means constant or continuous. It signifies the need for consistent and uninterrupted remembrance of Allah. The Quran encourages believers to remember Allah frequently, stating, (Quran 73:8)

And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with complete devotion.

This verse emphasizes the significance of continuous remembrance of Allah in order to attain spiritual growth and righteousness.

The word (dhikr) "ذِّكْرِ" refers to the remembrance of Allah, which encompasses various forms such as recitation of Quran, supplication, and glorification of Allah's attributes. Allah says in the Quran, (Quran 24:56)

And establish prayer and give zakah and remember Allah often, that you may succeed.

This verse highlights the correlation between remembrance of Allah and success in both this world and the hereafter.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states that when one fills their heart with the constant remembrance of Allah, their actions become good in both secret and in the open. This means that the effects of constant remembrance of Allah are not limited to one's public behavior, but also extend to their private actions and intentions.

When a person truly internalizes the remembrance of Allah, it becomes a guiding force in their life. Their thoughts, words, and deeds are influenced by the consciousness of Allah's presence. This leads to a transformation in their character, as they strive to align their actions with the teachings of Islam.

In the Quran, Allah says, (Quran 8:2)

Indeed, the believers are those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely.

This verse highlights the impact of remembrance of Allah on the hearts of believers, instilling in them a sense of awe, increasing their faith, and strengthening their reliance on Allah.

The consequences of filling one's heart with the constant remembrance of Allah are manifold. Firstly, it leads to the purification of the heart from negative traits such as arrogance, greed, and envy. The remembrance of Allah acts as a shield against sins and temptations, as it reminds the individual of their accountability to Allah.

Secondly, constant remembrance of Allah enhances one's mindfulness and consciousness of Allah's presence. This mindfulness prevents the individual from engaging in sinful or unethical behavior, whether in public or in private. It instills a sense of integrity and sincerity in their actions, as they strive to please Allah alone.

Furthermore, the constant remembrance of Allah strengthens the bond between the individual and their Creator. It deepens their love for Allah and their desire to seek His pleasure. This love and devotion motivate them to perform acts of worship and engage in righteous deeds, both in secret and in the open.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the transformative power of constant remembrance of Allah. When one fills their heart with the remembrance of Allah, their actions become good in both secret and in the open.
