Hadith #4174

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "آفَةُ الطّاعَةِ العِصْيانُ۔" This can be translated as,

The bane of obedience is insubordination.

Let us delve into the connotation of this statement and explore its implications in light of the Quran.

Firstly, let us understand the key words in this Hadith. (bane) "آفَةُ" refers to something that causes harm or destruction. (obedience) "الطّاعَةِ" signifies the act of submitting to the commands of Allah and His chosen representatives. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed - then it is those who are the disbelievers.
