Hadith #8698

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his purified progeny, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights a profound aspect of Allah's sovereignty and His divine wisdom in managing the affairs of the universe. On the other hand, the term (tarzadihi) "تَرْتَضِيهِ" means "pleases you." It highlights the human tendency to desire and expect things to happen according to our personal preferences and wishes. It reminds us that our desires and preferences may not always align with Allah's divine plan and wisdom.

To understand the enlightening message of this Hadith, we can turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) repeatedly emphasizes His absolute sovereignty and control over all affairs. In Surah Al-Hadid, Allah says, (57:3)

He is the First and the Last, the Ascendant and the Intimate, and He is, of all things, Knowing

This verse reminds us that Allah's knowledge encompasses everything, and He is fully aware of every detail of our lives.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Qamar, Allah states, (54:49)

Indeed, all things We created with predestination

This verse affirms that everything in the universe, including our own lives, is intricately planned and predetermined by Allah. It reminds us that our limited understanding cannot comprehend the wisdom behind every event and circumstance.

The consequences of understanding and internalizing the message of this Hadith are profound. It helps us develop a deep sense of trust and reliance on Allah's divine wisdom. We realize that even when things don't go according to our desires, there is a greater purpose and wisdom behind it. This understanding enables us to submit to Allah's will and accept His decree with patience and gratitude.

For example, when faced with difficulties or trials, we can find solace in the knowledge that Allah's management of affairs is based on His infinite wisdom. We can trust that He knows what is best for us, even if we cannot comprehend it in the present moment. This belief brings comfort and reassurance, allowing us to navigate through challenges with resilience and faith.

Moreover, this Hadith serves as a reminder to align our desires and aspirations with the teachings of Islam. It cautions us against becoming too attached to worldly desires and expectations. Instead, we should strive to seek Allah's pleasure and follow His guidance in all aspects of our lives. This aligns with the Quranic injunction to (2:207)

seek Allah's pleasure above all else
