Hadith #2605

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

الحق أحق أن يتبع

which translates to

The truth is worthier of being followed.

This beautiful saying of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the importance of adhering to the truth and following it in all aspects of our lives.

The word (al-haq) "الحق" refers to the truth, which is an absolute and unchanging reality. It is the opposite of falsehood and deception. The word (ahqa) "أحق" means worthier or more deserving. Therefore, Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) is emphasizing that the truth is the most deserving and worthy path to be followed.

This amazing Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) is supported by numerous verses from the Quran. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) repeatedly emphasizes the importance of adhering to the truth and following it in various aspects of our lives.

In Surah Al-Anfal, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says, (Quran 8:24)

And follow the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you do not perceive

This verse highlights the importance of following the best and most truthful guidance from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) before it is too late.

Another verse that supports the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) is found in Surah Al-Ma'idah, where Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says, (Quran 5:8)

O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do

This verse emphasizes the importance of upholding justice and following the truth, even if it goes against our personal inclinations or the opinions of others.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) statement holds great significance in our daily lives. It serves as a reminder that the truth should always be our guiding principle, regardless of the circumstances we find ourselves in. Following the truth requires courage, integrity, and a deep understanding of what is right and just.

When we choose to follow the truth, we align ourselves with the divine will of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). This not only brings us closer to Him but also leads to a life of righteousness and fulfillment. Following the truth may sometimes be challenging, as it may require us to go against societal norms or personal desires. However, the rewards of adhering to the truth are immense, both in this world and the hereafter.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) beautiful saying should motivate us to seek knowledge, reflect upon our actions, and strive to align ourselves with the truth in every aspect of our lives. By doing so, we can become better Muslims and contribute positively to society.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ)
