Hadith #6605

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

Let your riding mount be justice, for one who rides on it gains mastery.

This thought-provoking saying highlights the importance of justice in our lives and emphasizes its role in achieving success and mastery.

The word (marqabuka) "مَرْكَبُكَ" in Arabic refers to a riding mount or a means of transportation. Here, Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) metaphorically uses the concept of a riding mount to symbolize justice. Just as a riding mount carries a person from one place to another, justice carries individuals towards success and mastery in their lives.

The word (al-'adl) "العَدْلَ" means justice. It is a fundamental principle in Islam, emphasized in both the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah An-Nisa (4:135),

O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives.

This verse emphasizes the importance of upholding justice, even if it goes against our own interests or the interests of our loved ones.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Maida (5:8), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness.

This verse highlights the significance of justice in our interactions with others, regardless of their background or beliefs.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) statement emphasizes that justice should be the guiding principle in all aspects of our lives. It should be the foundation upon which we make decisions, resolve conflicts, and treat others.
