(Ghurar al-Hikam: Paradise And The People Of Paradise)

Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his purified progeny, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the importance of belief in Allah and the avoidance of His prohibitions. Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states that if a person truly believes in Allah and fears His displeasure by abstaining from what He has forbidden, then Allah will grant them the Abode of Peace. This refers to the ultimate reward of Paradise, where believers will find eternal peace and tranquility.

The word (amanta) "آمَنْتَ" in the Hadith means to believe or have faith. It signifies a deep conviction in the existence and oneness of Allah, as well as acceptance of His guidance and the teachings of Islam. This belief should be accompanied by (wattaqayta) "واتَّقَيْتَ", which means to fear or be conscious of Allah's prohibitions. It implies refraining from actions that are forbidden in Islam and striving to fulfill one's religious obligations.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) further states that if a person pleases Allah by following His commands and fulfilling His desires, Allah will envelop them with divine favor. The word (arḍaytahu) "أرْضَيْتَهُ" in the Hadith means to please or satisfy Allah. It signifies aligning one's actions and intentions with the pleasure of Allah, seeking His approval in all aspects of life.

To understand the connotation of this Hadith, let us turn to the Quran for further guidance. Allah says in Surah Yunus (10:62-63):

Unquestionably, the allies of Allah - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. Those who believed and were fearing Allah.

These verses highlight the promise of Allah's protection and peace for those who believe in Him and fear Him. The "allies of Allah" mentioned in the Quran are those who have a deep connection with Allah and strive to please Him. They are the ones who believe in Allah's oneness, follow His guidance, and abstain from what He has forbidden. As a result, they are granted security and tranquility in this life and the Hereafter.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Rad (13:28), Allah says:

Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah, hearts are assured.

This verse emphasizes the importance of having faith in Allah and finding solace in His remembrance. When a person believes in Allah and constantly remembers Him, their heart becomes tranquil and at peace. This tranquility is a result of the deep connection and trust they have in Allah, knowing that He is the ultimate source of security and contentment.

Reflecting on the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) and the supporting Quranic verses, we understand that true belief in Allah and adherence to His commands are the keys to attaining the Abode of Peace. By having faith in Allah and fearing His displeasure, we protect ourselves from the harmful consequences of sinful actions. Moreover, when we strive to please Allah and align our actions with His desires, we are enveloped in His divine favor and experience the tranquility of His blessings.

This Hadith serves as a reminder for all Muslims to strengthen their faith, be conscious of Allah's prohibitions, and seek His pleasure in all aspects of life. By doing so, we can attain the ultimate reward of Paradise, where we will find eternal peace and the boundless favor of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). May Allah guide us all on the path of righteousness and grant us the Abode of Peace.
