Hadith #11066

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his purified progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "بِالتَّوْفيقِ تَكُونُ السَّعادَةُ۔" This can be translated as,

Through God-given success, felicity is achieved.

Let us delve into the profound meanings of this Hadith in light of the Quran.

The word (tawfiq) "تَوْفِيق" in the Hadith refers to divine assistance, guidance, and enabling. It is a blessing from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) that empowers individuals to achieve success and prosperity. This success is not limited to worldly gains but encompasses both material and spiritual aspects of life.

The concept of tawfiq is beautifully highlighted in the Quran. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Anfal (8:29),

O you who have believed, if you fear Allah, He will grant you a criterion and will remove from you your misdeeds and forgive you. And Allah is the possessor of great bounty.

This verse emphasizes that by fearing Allah and seeking His guidance, believers are blessed with tawfiq, which leads to the attainment of happiness and success.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Qasas (28:56), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,

Indeed, [O Muhammad], you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.

This verse highlights that true guidance and success come solely from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). It is through His divine tawfiq that individuals are led towards the path of righteousness and felicity.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) Hadith reminds us that true happiness and contentment can only be achieved through the grace and assistance of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). It emphasizes the importance of relying on Allah's guidance in all aspects of our lives. When we seek His tawfiq, we are blessed with the ability to make wise decisions, overcome challenges, and attain success in both this world and the hereafter.

This Hadith also serves as a reminder that success is not solely dependent on our own efforts and abilities. While we must strive and work hard, it is ultimately Allah's tawfiq that determines the outcome. This understanding helps us maintain humility and gratitude, recognizing that all achievements are a result of Allah's blessings.

Reflecting on this Hadith, we can draw inspiration from the life of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ). Known for his immense knowledge and wisdom, Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) exemplified the concept of tawfiq in his actions and decisions. His deep understanding of the Quran and his unwavering reliance on Allah's guidance enabled him to lead a life of righteousness and attain true felicity.

As Muslims, we should strive to emulate Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) example by seeking Allah's tawfiq in all our endeavors. We should turn to the Quran as our ultimate source of guidance and rely on Allah's assistance to navigate through the challenges of life. By doing so, we can experience the true happiness and contentment that comes from being in alignment with Allah's will.
