Hadith #336

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his purified progeny, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the divine system of reward and punishment established by Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) to guide and motivate His servants towards obedience and righteousness. He promises Paradise, a place of eternal bliss and fulfillment, as a reward for those who strive to please Him. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in the Quran, (Quran 52:17-18)

Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire.

Furthermore, the divine system of reward and punishment serves as a deterrent against disobedience and sin. The fear of punishment acts as a reminder and a deterrent, preventing individuals from engaging in actions that would lead to their own spiritual and moral downfall. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) warns in the Quran, (Quran 3:131)

And fear the Fire, which has been prepared for the disbelievers.

This system of reward and punishment is a reflection of Allah's wisdom and His knowledge of human nature. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) knows that human beings are motivated by incentives and consequences. By establishing this system, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) guides His servants towards righteousness and protects them from the harmful consequences of their own actions.

Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) desires the well-being and salvation of His servants, and thus provides them with the opportunity to earn rewards and avoid punishment.
