Hadith #1232

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

إنْ امَنْتَ باللّهِ أمِنَ مُنْقَلَبُكَ۔

This can be translated as,

If you have faith in Allah, your place of return will be secure.

This enlightening Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the importance of having unwavering trust and belief in Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) and the consequences it has on our ultimate destination.

The word (in) "إنْ" is a particle that denotes certainty and emphasizes the truthfulness of the statement that follows. (amanta) "امَنْتَ" is derived from the root word (amana) "أمَنَ", which means to have faith, trust, and belief. (billahi) "باللّهِ" means in Allah, indicating that the faith being referred to is specifically in Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). (amina) "أمِنَ" means secure or safe, and (munqalabuka) "مُنْقَلَبُكَ" refers to one's place of return or final destination.

The Quran provides numerous verses that support the exegesis of this Hadith. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:257),

Allah is the ally of those who believe. He brings them out from darknesses into the light.

This verse emphasizes that when we have faith in Allah, He becomes our protector and guide, leading us from darkness towards light. This light represents the path of righteousness and the secure destination that awaits those who have unwavering faith.

Furthermore, in Surah Yunus (10:62-63), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

Unquestionably, the allies of Allah - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. Those who believed and were fearing Allah.

These verses assure us that those who have faith in Allah and fear Him will be protected from fear and grief. Their place of return will be secure, free from any distress or anxiety.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the profound connection between faith in Allah and the ultimate outcome of our lives. When we truly believe in Allah and place our trust in Him, our hearts find solace and tranquility. This faith becomes a guiding light that illuminates our path, shielding us from the darkness of doubt and uncertainty.

Moreover, it ensures that our ultimate return, our final destination, will be one of safety, security, and eternal bliss.

By doing so, we can navigate through the challenges of life with confidence and find solace in the knowledge that our place of return will be secure.
