Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, and his righteous companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states:

أُسْتُرْ عَوْرَةَ أخِيكَ لِما تَعْلَمُهُ فيكَ۔

This can be translated as:

Hide the flaw of your brother because of what you know is in yourself.

Let us delve into the meaning of the key words in this Hadith. (Ustur) "أُسْتُرْ" means to conceal or hide. (Awrah) "عَوْرَةَ" refers to a flaw or a shortcoming. (Akheeka) "أخِيكَ" means your brother, which can be understood in a broader sense to include all fellow Muslims. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers.

Indeed, those who like that immorality should be spread [or publicized] among those who have believed will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah knows and you do not know.

This verse warns against spreading the flaws or sins of others among the believers. It highlights the severe consequences of exposing the faults of our fellow Muslims, both in this world and in the Hereafter. By hiding the flaws of others, we protect their dignity and prevent unnecessary harm and suffering.
