Hadith #10234

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

مَنْ نَصَحَكَ فَقَدْ أنْجَدَكَ۔

This can be translated as,

Whoever gives you sincere advice has indeed helped you.

Let us delve into the meaning of this profound statement. The word (nasaḥaka) "نَصَحَكَ" comes from the root word (nasaḥa) "نَصَحَ", which means to advise, counsel, or sincerely guide someone. It implies offering sincere and well-intentioned advice for the betterment of the individual being advised. The word (anjadaka) "أنْجَدَكَ" is derived from the root word (najada) "نَجَدَ", which means to rescue, save, or help someone in times of need or difficulty.

To understand the significance of this Hadith, we can turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) emphasizes the importance of sincere advice and guidance in several verses. In Surah Al-Asr, Allah says, (Quran 103:1-3)

By time, indeed, mankind is in loss, except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.

And We inspired to the mother of Moses, 'Suckle him; but when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear and do not grieve. Indeed, We will return him to you and will make him [one] of the messengers.'

In this verse, Allah instructs the mother of Prophet Moses (Musa) to take a difficult step of casting her infant son into the river, trusting in Allah's promise to return him safely. This act of sincere advice and trust in Allah's plan ultimately led to the salvation and guidance of Prophet Moses, who went on to become one of the greatest messengers of Allah.
