Hadith #3959

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

مِنْ أعْوَدِ الغَنائِمِ دَوْلَةُ الأكارِمِ۔

This can be translated as,

The sovereignty of the honourable is one of the most beneficial gains.

Let us delve into the deeper meaning of this thought-provoking Hadith in light of the Quran.

Firstly, let us analyze the key words in this Hadith. The word (ghana'im) "غَنَائِمِ" refers to gains or spoils of war. It signifies the acquisition of something valuable or beneficial. The word (dawlatu) "دَوْلَةُ" means sovereignty or authority, indicating a position of power and leadership. Lastly, (al-akarimi) "الأكارِمِ" refers to the honorable or noble individuals.

To understand the significance of this Hadith, we can turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Hadid (57:26),

And We certainly sent Noah and Abraham and placed in their descendants prophethood and scripture. And among them is he who is guided, but many of them are defiantly disobedient.

This verse highlights the importance of leadership and guidance, which is bestowed upon the noble and honorable individuals.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Qasas (28:5-6), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,

And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors. And establish them in the land and show Pharaoh and [his minister] Haman and their soldiers through them that which they had feared.

This verse emphasizes the divine plan to elevate the oppressed and grant them authority and sovereignty.

Based on these Quranic verses, we can understand that the sovereignty of the honorable individuals is a great gain because it brings about justice, guidance, and prosperity. When the noble and honorable individuals are in positions of power, they are more likely to govern with righteousness, compassion, and wisdom. Their leadership becomes a means of establishing justice, protecting the rights of the oppressed, and ensuring the well-being of society as a whole.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), known for his unparalleled knowledge and wisdom, exemplified the qualities of an honorable leader. His rule during the caliphate was marked by justice, equality, and compassion. He implemented policies that uplifted the marginalized and protected the rights of all individuals, regardless of their social status or background.
