Hadith #11438

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his purified progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

التَّيَقُّظُ فِي الدِّينِ نِعْمَةٌ عَلَى مَنْ رُزِقَهُ

which translates to

Vigilance in religion is a blessing for the one whom it is bestowed upon.

In this impactful saying , Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the significance and blessings of being vigilant and conscientious in matters of religion.

The word (tayyiqadh) "التَّيَقُّظُ" refers to being alert, watchful, and cautious. It implies a state of being awake and aware, both internally and externally, in matters related to religion. This includes being mindful of one's actions, intentions, and responsibilities towards Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) and the teachings of Islam.

The phrase (fi ad-din) "فِي الدِّينِ" means "in religion." It encompasses all aspects of faith, worship, and righteous conduct. It refers to the comprehensive system of beliefs, practices, and values that guide a Muslim's life and relationship with Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ).

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes that being vigilant in matters of religion is a great blessing. This means that those who are granted the ability to be watchful and conscientious in their religious duties are indeed fortunate. It is a divine favor from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) to be bestowed with such awareness and mindfulness.

In Surah Al-A'raf (7:56), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

And cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation. And invoke Him in fear and aspiration. Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good.

This verse highlights the responsibility of believers to avoid causing corruption and to invoke Allah with fear and hope. It reminds us that being vigilant in our actions and intentions is essential for maintaining the balance and harmony of society.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) statement emphasizes the importance of vigilance in religion, not only for individual spiritual growth but also for the betterment of society as a whole. It serves as a shield against the influences of society that may lead one astray from the path of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ).
