Hadith #6046

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

One who obeys Allah, has sought [His] assistance (or has seen the truth).

In this Hadith, there are two important words that require our attention: (obeys) "أطاعَ" and (has sought assistance or has seen the truth) "اِسْتَنْصَرَ".

The word (obeys) "أطاعَ" comes from the root word "طاعة" which means obedience. It implies submitting to the commands of Allah and following His guidance. Obedience to Allah is not merely a physical act, but it encompasses all aspects of a person's life, including their thoughts, words, and actions. It is a comprehensive surrender to the will of Allah.

To further understand the concept of obedience, we can turn to the Quran. In Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah says, (Quran 4:59)

O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result

This verse emphasizes the importance of obeying Allah and His Messenger, as well as those in authority who uphold the teachings of Islam. It highlights the unity and harmony that comes from following the guidance of Allah.

The second word in the Hadith is (has sought assistance or has seen the truth) "اِسْتَنْصَرَ". This word is derived from the root word "نصر" which means assistance or support. It implies seeking help from Allah and relying on His guidance. When a person obeys Allah, they acknowledge their dependence on Him and recognize that true success lies in seeking His assistance.

The Quran provides numerous examples of seeking assistance from Allah. In Surah Al-Fatiha, we recite, (Quran 1:5)

You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help

This verse reminds us that our worship and seeking help should be directed solely towards Allah. It reinforces the concept of relying on Allah for guidance, support, and success in all aspects of our lives.

Now, let us delve deeper into the significance of this Hadith. Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), known for his immense knowledge and wisdom, is teaching us that true obedience to Allah leads to seeking His assistance and guidance. When we submit ourselves to the will of Allah and follow His commands, we open ourselves up to His divine guidance and blessings.

By obeying Allah, we align ourselves with His infinite wisdom and mercy. We recognize that He knows what is best for us and that His commands are a means of attaining success and happiness in this world and the Hereafter. This obedience is not a burden, but rather a path to liberation and enlightenment.

When we seek assistance from Allah, we acknowledge our limitations as human beings and our need for His guidance and support. We understand that we cannot navigate the complexities of life on our own and that true success lies in relying on Allah's infinite knowledge and power. Seeking His assistance is an act of humility and surrender, as we recognize that He is the ultimate source of all strength and guidance.

This Hadith serves as a reminder for us as Muslims to strive for complete obedience to Allah and to seek His assistance in all aspects of our lives. It teaches us that true success lies in aligning our will with the will of Allah and relying on His guidance. By doing so, we open ourselves up to His blessings and mercy, and we attain a deep sense of peace and fulfillment.

May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) grant us the ability to obey Him wholeheartedly and seek His assistance in all our affairs.
