In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "الأُمُورُ بِالتَّجرِبَةِ۔" which translates to

Matters are [perfected] through experience [and trial].

This wise utterance of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the importance of gaining knowledge and wisdom through practical experience and learning from the trials and challenges of life.

To understand the depth and significance of this Hadith, let us explore some key words. The word (ummur) "أُمُورُ" refers to matters or affairs, encompassing various aspects of life such as personal, social, and spiritual matters. The term (tajriba) "تَجْرِبَةِ" means experience or trial, indicating the process of going through different situations and learning from them.

The Quran provides us with numerous verses that support the wisdom behind Imam Ali's statement. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) emphasizes the importance of gaining knowledge and wisdom through experience. In Surah Al-Ankabut (29:2), Allah says,

Do the people think that they will be left to say, 'We believe' and they will not be tried?

This verse reminds us that trials and challenges are an integral part of our journey of faith and growth. Through these experiences, we learn valuable lessons and develop a deeper understanding of ourselves and our relationship with Allah.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:286), Allah states,

Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear.
