Hadith #2013

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "لاحَقَّ لِمَحْجُوج۔" This can be translated into English as,

One who is disproved has no right.

Let us delve into the meaning of this statement in light of the Quran.

The word (mahjoor) "مَحْجُوج" in this Hadith refers to someone who has been proven wrong or refuted. It signifies a person whose arguments, claims, or beliefs have been invalidated or discredited. Such an individual is devoid of any legitimate right or authority to assert their position.

To understand the significance of this Hadith, we can turn to the Quran for guidance. In Surah Al-Anfal, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says, (Quran 8:62)

And if they intend to deceive you, then indeed, Allah is sufficient for you. It is He who supported you with His help and with the believers.

This verse highlights that Allah is the ultimate source of support and guidance for the believers. When someone is proven wrong or deceptive, their claims hold no weight in the sight of Allah.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Anfal, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states, (Quran 8:40)

And if they turn away, then know that Allah is your protector. Excellent is the protector, and excellent is the helper.

This verse reassures the believers that Allah is their ultimate protector and helper. It emphasizes that those who deviate from the truth and are disproved have no legitimate authority or right to guide or mislead others.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) statement highlights the importance of intellectual honesty and humility. It reminds us that when our arguments or beliefs are refuted, we must acknowledge our errors and rectify our understanding. By doing so, we align ourselves with the truth and avoid misleading others.

This Hadith also serves as a reminder for Muslims to critically examine their beliefs and actions. It encourages us to seek knowledge, engage in constructive dialogue, and be open to correction. When we are willing to accept the truth and let go of falsehood, we can grow intellectually and spiritually.

Moreover, this Hadith emphasizes the importance of seeking guidance from those who possess true knowledge and wisdom. Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) was known for his exceptional knowledge and understanding of Islam. His profound insights and teachings continue to inspire Muslims to this day. Therefore, it is crucial for us to seek guidance from individuals who are well-versed in Islamic knowledge and who adhere to the teachings of the Quran and the Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلَامُ).

reminds us of the importance of intellectual honesty, humility, and seeking guidance from those who possess true knowledge. It urges us to critically examine our beliefs, accept the truth, and rectify our understanding when proven wrong. By doing so, we align ourselves with the teachings of the Quran and the path of the Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلَامُ), and we distance ourselves from falsehood and deception. May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) guide us all on the straight path and grant us the wisdom to discern truth from falsehood.
