Hadith #7475

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. Peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "لاسَميرَ كَالْعِلْمِ۔" This can be translated as,

There is no nightly conversation partner like knowledge.

Let us delve into the meaning of this statement in light of the Quran.

The word (samir) "سَمِير" in Arabic refers to a companion or a partner with whom one engages in conversation. Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) is highlighting the importance of knowledge by comparing it to a conversation partner. Are those who know equal to those who do not know?

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Anfal (8:43), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,

And know that Allah knows what is within yourselves, so beware of Him.

This verse emphasizes the importance of self-awareness and knowledge of one's own inner self. It reminds us that true knowledge encompasses not only external information but also self-reflection and spiritual growth.
