Hadith #7058

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. Peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

Three things show the intelligence of their lords: the messenger, the message, and the gift.

This Hadith highlights the significance of three elements that reflect the wisdom and intelligence of those who possess them.

Firstly, let us examine the word (messenger) "رَسُولُ" in this Hadith. A messenger is someone who is chosen by Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) to convey His message to humanity. In the context of this Hadith, the messenger refers to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), who was sent as the final and most perfect messenger to guide mankind. The intelligence of the lord is demonstrated through the selection of such a noble and wise messenger.

The Quran provides numerous verses that emphasize the importance of the messenger. For example, in Surah Al-Imran (3:164), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

Certainly, Allah conferred a great favor upon the believers when He sent among them a Messenger from themselves.

This verse highlights the significance of the messenger in guiding and enlightening the believers.

Secondly, the word (message) "كِتَابُ" in the Hadith refers to the divine scripture, the Quran. The Quran is the ultimate source of guidance for humanity, containing the words of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). It is a comprehensive and timeless message that encompasses all aspects of life. The intelligence of the lord is evident in the revelation of such a profound and comprehensive scripture.

The Quran itself testifies to its significance as a message from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). In Surah Al-Baqarah (2:185), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

The month of Ramadan is that in which the Quran was revealed as guidance for mankind.

This verse emphasizes the Quran's role as a guide for humanity, demonstrating the intelligence of the lord in providing such a divine message.

Lastly, the word (gift) "هَدِيَّةُ" in the Hadith refers to a present or a gift. In the context of this Hadith, it symbolizes the divine blessings and favors bestowed upon humanity. These gifts can take various forms, including knowledge, intellect, and material provisions. The intelligence of the lord is evident in the bestowal of such gifts upon His creation.

The Quran provides numerous examples of the gifts and blessings bestowed upon humanity by Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). In Surah An-Nahl (16:18), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

And if you should count the favors of Allah, you could not enumerate them.

This verse highlights the abundance of gifts and blessings that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) has bestowed upon His creation, demonstrating the intelligence of the lord in providing for His servants.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the intelligence of the lords through three significant elements: the messenger, the message, and the gift. These elements reflect the wisdom and intelligence of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) in selecting the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) as the final messenger, revealing the Quran as a comprehensive message, and bestowing abundant gifts upon humanity. As Muslims, we should reflect upon these profound teachings and strive to appreciate and benefit from these blessings in our lives. May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) grant us the understanding and wisdom to comprehend the significance of these elements and follow the guidance they provide.
