Hadith #7041

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. May peace and blessings be upon the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his family (Ahl al-Bayt), and his companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "بِالعَقْلِ تُنالُ الخَيْراتُ۔" This can be translated as,

Through the intellect, [acts of goodness and] virtues are attained.

In this thought-provoking Hadith, Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the importance of utilizing one's intellect in order to attain goodness and virtues in life.

Let us delve deeper into the key words of this Hadith. The word (intellect) "عَقْلِ" refers to the faculty of reasoning, understanding, and discernment that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) has bestowed upon human beings. He grants wisdom to whom He pleases; and whoever is granted wisdom is indeed given a great good.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Ankabut, verse 43, Allah states,

And these examples We present to the people, but none will understand them except those of knowledge.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) Hadith serves as a reminder for Muslims to prioritize the use of their intellect in all aspects of life.
