مَنْ سالَمَ اللّهَ سَلَّمَهُ وَمَنْ حارَبَ اللّهَ حَرَبَهُ۔
Whoever surrenders to Allah will be granted security by Him and whoever wages war with Allah will be destroyed by Him.

(Ghurar al-Hikam: Submission To The Will Of Allah)
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.
The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,
Whoever surrenders to Allah will be granted security by Him and whoever wages war with Allah will be destroyed by Him.
This profound statement highlights the importance of submitting oneself to the will of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) and the consequences of opposing His commands.
Let us delve into the meaning of some key words in this Hadith. The word (سالَمَ) "sallama" means to surrender, submit, or make peace. It implies a complete submission to the will of Allah and a sincere devotion to His commands. The word (حارَبَ) "haraba" means to wage war or fight against. It signifies a deliberate act of opposing Allah and His divine guidance.
To understand the impactful message of this Hadith, we must turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) repeatedly emphasizes the importance of surrendering to Him and the consequences of opposing His commands. In Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 208, Allah says,
O you who have believed, enter into peace completely and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.
This verse highlights the significance of entering into peace completely, which aligns with the concept of surrendering to Allah mentioned in the Hadith. By submitting ourselves entirely to Allah's will, we distance ourselves from the path of Satan, who is the ultimate enemy of mankind. This surrender brings about inner peace and protection from the evils of this world.
Furthermore, in Surah Muhammad, verse 4, Allah states,
So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike [their] necks until, when you have inflicted slaughter upon them, then secure their bonds, and either [confer] favor afterwards or ransom [them] until the war lays down its burdens.
This verse provides guidance on how to deal with those who wage war against Allah and His believers. It emphasizes the importance of establishing peace and security after the conflict has ended.
Now, let us reflect on the wise message of Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) Hadith. By surrendering to Allah, we align ourselves with His divine will and seek His protection and security. This surrender encompasses all aspects of our lives, including our thoughts, actions, and intentions. It requires us to submit ourselves to the teachings of the Quran and the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
On the other hand, those who choose to wage war against Allah and His commands are destined for destruction. Their actions are in direct opposition to the divine will, and they will face the consequences of their defiance. This destruction may manifest in various forms, both in this world and in the hereafter.
Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) thought-provoking saying serves as a reminder for Muslims to constantly evaluate their actions and intentions. It urges us to strive for complete surrender to Allah and to avoid any form of opposition to His divine guidance. By doing so, we attain peace, security, and the ultimate reward of paradise.
In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the importance of surrendering to Allah and the consequences of opposing His commands. It serves as a reminder for Muslims to strive for complete submission to Allah's will and to avoid any form of opposition. By surrendering to Allah, we attain peace, security, and the blessings of this world and the hereafter. May Allah guide us all to surrender to His will and grant us His eternal mercy and protection.
