Hadith #7394

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

The fruit of knowledge is acting upon it.

This profound statement emphasizes the importance of not only acquiring knowledge but also implementing it in our lives. Let us delve deeper into the words of this Hadith and explore its significance in light of the Quran.

Firstly, let us examine the key words in this Hadith. "Thamarat" refers to the fruit or outcome, while "al-'ilm" signifies knowledge, and "al-'amal" means action or implementation. The Quran repeatedly emphasizes the importance of knowledge and its implementation. In Surah Al-Zumar, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says, (Quran 39:9)

Say, 'Are those who know equal to those who do not know?' Only they will remember [who are] people of understanding

This verse highlights the distinction between those who possess knowledge and those who do not. It emphasizes that true understanding and remembrance come from acting upon knowledge.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Imran, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says, (Quran 61:2-3)

O you who have believed, why do you say what you do not do? Great is hatred in the sight of Allah that you say what you do not do

This verse admonishes those who claim to have knowledge but fail to act upon it. It emphasizes the importance of aligning our words with our actions, as mere knowledge without implementation is futile.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) serves as a reminder that knowledge is not meant to be a mere intellectual pursuit. It is meant to transform our lives and guide our actions.
