Hadith #7195

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the importance of considering the consequences of our actions. The word (aql) "أعْقَلُ" in Arabic refers to intelligence or wisdom, and (annas) "النّاسِ" means people. The word (anzur) "أنْظَرُ" is derived from the root word (nathara) "نَظَرَ", which means to look, observe, or consider. And finally, (fi al-'awaqib) "فِي العَواقِبِ" means "in the consequences."

Similarly, in Surah Al-Imran (3:30), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,

On the Day every soul will find what it has done of good present [before it] and what it has done of evil, it will wish that between itself and that [evil] was a great distance. And Allah warns you of Himself, and Allah is Kind to [His] servants.

This verse highlights the reality that our actions will be presented to us on the Day of Judgment, and we will wish we had taken more care in considering the consequences of our deeds.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) Hadith serves as a reminder for Muslims to be mindful of the consequences of their actions. It encourages us to think beyond the immediate gratification or benefits of our choices and consider the long-term impact they may have. They would recognize that although dishonesty may provide temporary gains, it will ultimately lead to loss of trust, damaged relationships, and a tarnished reputation. On the other hand, a person who is wise and considers the consequences would choose honesty, knowing that it leads to integrity, trustworthiness, and a clear conscience.

Similarly, in matters of personal relationships, a person who considers the consequences would think before speaking harshly or acting impulsively. They would understand that their words and actions can have a lasting impact on the well-being and emotions of others. By being mindful of the consequences, they would choose kindness, compassion, and empathy, fostering healthy and harmonious relationships.

In summary, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) teaches us the importance of considering the consequences of our actions. It urges us to be wise and intelligent in our decision-making processes, recognizing that true intelligence lies in thinking beyond the immediate and considering the long-term effects of our choices. By doing so, we can align our actions with our values and beliefs, and strive for success in this world and the Hereafter.
