Hadith #8109

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. May peace and blessings be upon the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his purified progeny, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights two powerful forces that can lead human beings astray: anger and women. Let us delve into the meanings of these words and explore their implications in light of the Quran.

Those who spend [in Allah's cause] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good.

This verse emphasizes the importance of controlling anger and forgiving others, as it is an act of righteousness that is beloved to Allah. Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) warns us about the devil's use of anger as a lasso to ensnare human beings, highlighting the need for self-control and restraint.

Secondly, let us explore the word (النِّساءِ) "nisaa" which translates to "women" in English. It is important to note that this Hadith does not imply that women are inherently evil or a source of temptation. Rather, it highlights the potential for distraction and deviation that can arise from improper relationships or attachments. The Quran emphasizes the importance of maintaining modesty and guarding against illicit desires. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah An-Nur, verse 30:

(Quran 24:30)

Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do.

This verse reminds Muslim men to lower their gaze and control their desires, emphasizing the importance of maintaining modesty and purity. Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) cautions us about the devil's use of improper relationships or attachments as a means of leading us astray.
