Nobleness And Munificence

Being noble-minded means having a good character and eschewing lowly traits. اَلْكَرَمُ حُسْنُ السَّجيَّةِ واجْتِنابُ الدَّنيَّة۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Munificence is [in] giving generously and fulfilling promises. اَلْكَرَمُ بَذْلُ الجُودِ، وإنجازُ المَوْعُودِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Nobleness is [in] preferring the pleasantness of praise over the love of wealth. اَلْكَرَمُ إيثارُ عُذُوبَةِ الثَّناءِ عَلى حُبِّ المالِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The best munificence is altruism. أحْسَنُ الكَرَمِ اَلإيثارُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The highest level of munificence is self-sacrifice. أعْلى مَراتِبِ الكَرَمِ الإيثارُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The most excellent munificence is completing [one’s] favours. أفْضَلُ الكَرَمِ إتْمامُ النِّعَمِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Munificence is excellence and loyalty is nobility. اَلْكَرَمُ فَضْلٌ، الوَفاءُ نُبْلٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Nobleness is the source of goodness. اَلْكَرَمُ مَعْدِنُ الخَيْرِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Munificence is the best eminence. اَلْكَرَمُ أفْضَلُ السُّؤْدَدِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Munificence is the best of traits. اَلْكَرَمُ أفْضَلُ الشِّيَمِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Nobleness is [being] free from jealousy. اَلْكَرَمُ بَريءٌ مِنَ الحَسَدِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Nobleness is bearing the wrongdoings [of others]. اَلْكَرَمُ اِحْتِمالُ الجَريرَةِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Nobleness is having good patience [and tolerance]. اَلْكَرَمُ حُسْنُ الاِصْطِبارِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Munificence is bearing the [heavy] burdens of [other people’s] liabilities. اَلْكَرَمُ تَحَمُّلُ أعْباءِ المَغارِمِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Nobleness is preferring dignity over wealth. اَلْكَرَمُ إيثارُ العِرْضِ عَلَى المالِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Nobleness is [being] more compassionate than close relatives. اَلْكَرَمُ أعْطَفُ مِنَ الرَّحِمِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Nobleness is control over one’s tongue and doing good to others. اَلْكَرَمُ مُلْكُ اللِّسانِ وبَذْلُ الإحْسانِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Nobleness is the result of lofty endeavour [and high resolve]. اَلْكَرَمُ نَتيجَةُ عُلُوِّ الهِمَّةِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Nobleness is nothing but refraining from [committing] sins (or misdeeds). إنَّما الكَرَمُ اَلتَّنَزُّهُ عَنِ المَعاصي (المَساوي)۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Munificence is nothing but granting the wishes and fulfilling the needs of the seeker. إنَّما الكَرَمُ بَذْلُ الرَّغائِبِ وإسْعافُ الطّالِبِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The fruit of nobleness is keeping ties with near relatives. ثَمَرَةُ الكَرَمِ صِلَةُ الرَّحِمِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The best munificence is being generous without seeking [any] recompense. خَيْرُ الكَرَمِ جُودٌ بِلا طَلَبِ مُكافاة۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم It is not from munificence to spoil the favours [one does to others] by [putting them under]... لَيْسَ مِنَ الكَرَمِ تَنْكيدُ المِنَنِ (النِّعَمِ) بِالمَنِّ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Completion of favours is part of munificence. مِنَ الكَرَمِ إتْمامُ النِّعَمِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
