Haste And The Hasty

Haste is dispraised in every affair except in that which repels evil. اَلعَجَلَةُ مَذْمُومَةٌ في كُلِّ أمْر إلاّ فيما يَدْفَعُ الشَّرَّ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Beware of haste, for indeed it bears the fruit of regret. اِحْذَرُوا العَجَلَةَ فَإنَّها تُثْمِرُ النَّدامَةَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Keep away from haste, for verily it is the symbol of loss and regret. إيّاكَ والعَجَلَ، فَإنَّهُ عُنْوانُ الفَوْتِ والنَّدَمِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Keep away from haste, for surely it is associated with error. إيّاكَ والعَجَلَ فَإنَّهُ مَقْرُونٌ بِالعِثارِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Haste (or conceit) leads to error. اَلعَجَلُ (العُجْبُ) يُوجِبُ العِثارَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Haste prevents one from [successfully] achieving his goal. اَلعَجَلَةُ تَمْنَعُ الإصابَةَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Making haste before [having the] ability, causes distress. اَلعَجَلُ قَبْلَ الإمْكانِ يُوجِبُ الغُصَّةَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The fruit of haste is error. ثَمَرَةُ العَجَلَةِ العِثارُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Being hasty before [possessing the] ability is part of foolishness. مِنَ الحُمْقِ العَجَلَةُ قَبْلَ الإمْكانِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم With haste, errors abound. مَعَ العَجَلِ يَكْثُرُ الزَّلَلُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The hasty one is in the wrong, even if he acquires [what he seeks]. اَلعَجُولُ مُخْطِئٌ وإنْ مَلَكَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The one who rides on [the mount of] haste is on the verge of stumbling. راكِبُ العَجَلِ (العَجَلَةِ) مُشْف (مُشْرِف) عَلَى الكَبْوَةِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم In haste there is error. فِي العَجَلِ عِثارٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم In haste there is regret. فِي العَجَلَةِ النَّدامَةُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم It is seldom that the view of a hasty person turns out to be correct. قَلَّما يُصيبُ رَأيُ العَجُولِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم It is seldom that the scheme of the hasty is successful or that the love of the one who is fed up... قَلَّما تَنْجَحُ حيلَةُ العَجُولِ، أوْ تَدُومُ مَوَدَّةُ المَلُولِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Few are the ones who make haste and are not ruined by it. قَلَّ مَنْ عَجِلَ إلاّ هَلَكَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Everyone who is hastened asks for more time. كُلُّ مُعاجَل يَسْأَلُ الإنْظارَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Too much haste makes a person slip. كَثْرَةُ العَجَلِ يُزِلُّ الإنْسانَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم A hasty person never gets praised [for his haste]. لَنْ يُلْقَي العَجُولُ مَحْمُوداً۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who makes haste, errs. مَنْ عَجِلَ زَلَّ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who is hasty makes mistakes. مَنْ يَعْجَلْ يَعْثُرْ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who makes haste, his errors increase?. مَنْ عَجِلَ كَثُرَ عِثارُهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who acts hastily falls into error. مَنْ رَكِبَ العَجَلَ أدْرَكَ الزَّلَلَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
