Doubt And Misgiving

The sincere one is not suspicious and the one who is certain does not doubt. مَا ارْتابَ مُخْلِصٌ، وَلاشَكَّ مُوقِنٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم He in whose heart doubt has settled does not believe in Allah. ما آمَنَ بِاللّهِ مَنْ سَكَنَ الشَّكُّ قَلْبَهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Keeping away from suspicion is from the best magnanimity. مُجانَبَةُ الرَّيْبِ مِنْ أحْسَنِ الفُتُوَّةِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Who can be more of a failure than the one who crosses [over] from certainty towards doubt and... مَنْ أخْيَبُ مِمَّنْ تَعَدّى اليَقينَ إلَى الشَّكِّ والحَيْرَةِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The smallest doubt can corrupt certitude. يَسيرُ الشَّكِّ يُفْسِدُ اليَقينَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Nobody more timid than the suspicious one. لا أجْبَنَ مِنْ مُريب۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Suspicion leads to mistrust. الرِّيْبَةُ تُوجِبُ الظِّنَةَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم When suspicion appears, thoughts [about others] become negative. إذا ظَهَرَتِ الرِّيْبَةُ سائَتِ الظُّنُونُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Abandon that which causes you to doubt for that which does not cause you to doubt. دَعْ ما يُريبُكَ إلى ما لا يُريبُكَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Let your inquiry into doubtful matters be conclusive, for indeed the one who falls into them... لِيَصْدُقْ تَحَرّيكَ فِي الشُّبَهاتِ فَإنَّ مَنْ وَقَعَ فيها اِرْتَبَكَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The sceptic has no religion and the backbiter has no magnanimity. لادينَ لِمُرْتاب، وَلا مُرُوَّةَ لِمُغْتاب۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The suspicious one is never found in a sound state. لايُلْفَى المُريبُ صَحيحاً۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The most abased of people is the sceptic. أذَلُّ النّاسِ المُرْتابُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The suspicious person is always sick. اَلمُريبُ أبَداً عَليلٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The sceptic has no religion. اَلمُرْتابُ لادينَ لَهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The doubting one has no certitude. اَلشَّاكُّ لايَقينَ لَهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
