Judiciousness

Judiciousness means enduring agony until the opportunity [to react] avails itself. اَلْحَزْمُ تَجَرُّعُ الغُصَّةِ، حَتّى تُمَكِّنَ الفُرْصَةُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The last sources of self-preservation are the first points of caution. أواخِرُ مَصادِرِ التَّوَقّي أوائِلُ مَوارِدِ الحَذَرِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Judiciousness is considering the consequences [of actions] and consulting the wise. اَلحَزْمُ اَلنَّظَرُ فِي العَواقِبِ، ومُشاوَرَةُ ذَوِي العُقُولِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Indeed, the one who gets involved in matters without thinking about the consequences is vulnerable... ألا وإنَّ مَنْ تَوَرَّطَ فِي الأُمُورِ مِنْ غَيْرِ نَظَر فِي العَواقِبِ فَقَدْ تَعَرَّضَ لِمُفْدِحاتِ النَّوائِبِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The root of determination is judiciousness, and its fruit is victory. أصْلُ العَزْمِ الحَزْمُ، وثَمَرَتُهُ اَلظَّفَرُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Judiciousness is a provision and negligence is a loss. اَلْحَزْمُ بِضاعَةٌ (و) التَّواني إضاعَةٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Judiciousness is a skill. اَلحَزْمُ صِناعَةٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Judiciousness is [having] the most pertinent of views. اَلحَزْمُ أسَدُّ الآراءِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Judiciousness is preserving the [lessons learned through] experience. اَلحَزْمُ حِفْظُ التَجْرِبَةِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Judiciousness is [achieved] through weighing the opinions thoroughly. اَلحَزْمُ بِإجالَةِ الرَّأْيِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Judiciousness is being extremely cautious. اَلحَزْمُ شِدَّةُ الاِسْتِظْهارِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Views are many but foresight is little. اَلرَّأْيُ كَثيرٌ، والحَزْمُ قَليلٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Judiciousness is safeguarding that which you have been charged with and leaving that which has been... اَلحَزْمُ حِفْظُ ما كُلِّفْتَ، وتَرْكُ ما كُفيتَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Tranquillity before [gaining] awareness [of the situation] is contrary to judiciousness. اَلطُّمَأْنِينَةُ قَبْلَ الخُبْرَةِ خِلافُ الحَزْمِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Verily judiciousness is only in obedience to Allah and disobedience to the [lower] self. إنَّما الحَزْمُ طاعَةُ اللّهِ، ومَعْصِيةُ النَّفْسِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The bane of judiciousness is losing the matter. آفَةُ الحَزْمِ فَوْتُ الأمْرِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم When judiciousness is coupled with determination, felicity becomes complete. إذَا اقْتَرَنَ العَزْمُ بِالحَزْمِ كَمُلَتِ السَّعادَةُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The fruit of judiciousness is wellbeing. ثَمَرَةُ الحَزْمِ السَّلامَةُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Act with judiciousness and cling to knowledge your results will be praiseworthy. خُذْ بِالحَزْمِ، والْزِمِ العِلْمَ، تُحْمَدْ عَواقِبُكَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The end result of judiciousness is precaution. غايَةُ الحَزْمِ الاِسْتِظْهارُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The perfection of judiciousness is seeking to reform [one’s] opponents and being amicable with... كَمالُ الحَزْمِ اِسْتِصْلاحُ الأضْدادِ، ومُداجاةُ الأعْداءِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who opposes judiciousness is destroyed. مَنْ خالَفَ الحَزْمَ هَلَكَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who acts judiciously is cautious. مَنْ أخَذَ بِالحَزْمِ اِسْتَظْهَرَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who fails to act with judiciousness is reckless. مَنْ أضاعَ الحَزْمَ تَهَوَّرَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
