Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

بادِرُوا قَبْلَ قُدُومِ الغائبِ المُنْتَظَرِ۔

This Hadith urges us to hasten in performing good deeds before the arrival of the hidden awaited one. Let us delve into the deeper meaning of this Hadith in light of the Quran.

The word (badiroo) "بادِرُوا" means to hasten or to be quick in doing something. It emphasizes the importance of taking immediate action and not delaying in performing acts of goodness. This word carries a sense of urgency, urging Muslims to seize every opportunity to engage in righteous deeds.

The phrase (qudoom al-gha'ib al-muntathar) "قُدُومِ الغائبِ المُنْتَظَرِ" refers to the arrival of the hidden awaited one. This phrase alludes to the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), the twelfth Imam of the Shia Muslims, who is believed to be in occultation until the appointed time when he will emerge to establish justice and righteousness on earth.

To understand the significance of hastening in performing good deeds before the arrival of Imam Mahdi (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), we can turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Hadid (57:21),

Hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous.

This verse emphasizes the importance of hastening towards seeking forgiveness and engaging in acts of righteousness in order to attain the ultimate reward of Paradise.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:148), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

So hasten to good deeds as best as you can.

This verse encourages Muslims to strive and hasten in performing good deeds to the best of their abilities. It highlights the urgency of taking action and not procrastinating in doing righteous acts.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) serves as a reminder for Muslims to be proactive in their pursuit of goodness. It urges us to seize every opportunity to engage in acts of worship, kindness, and charity before the arrival of Imam Mahdi (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ). By doing so, we not only fulfill our individual obligations but also contribute to the betterment of society.

This Hadith also reflects the profound knowledge of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ). As the gate of knowledge and wisdom, Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) understood the importance of seizing every opportunity to perform good deeds. He knew that the arrival of Imam Mahdi (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) would mark a significant turning point in history, and thus, he urged the believers to be proactive in their pursuit of righteousness.

The consequences of heeding this Hadith are immense. By hastening in performing good deeds, we not only earn the pleasure of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) but also prepare ourselves for the arrival of Imam Mahdi (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ). Our actions contribute to the establishment of justice and righteousness in the world, aligning ourselves with the mission of Imam Mahdi (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ).

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) serves as a reminder for Muslims to hasten in performing good deeds before the arrival of the hidden awaited one, Imam Mahdi (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ). It emphasizes the importance of taking immediate action and not delaying in engaging in acts of righteousness. By heeding this advice, we prepare ourselves for the arrival of Imam Mahdi (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) and contribute to the establishment of justice and righteousness in the world. May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) grant us the ability to hasten in performing good deeds and be among those who are ready for the arrival of Imam Mahdi (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ).
