Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. Peace and blessings be upon Muhammad, his family, his companions, and the righteous successors.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the importance of sharing with those who are blessed with abundant livelihood. Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), known for his wisdom and deep understanding of the teachings of Islam, advises Muslims to participate in the wealth of those who are already blessed with abundance. Let us delve into the exegesis of this profound Hadith and explore its implications in light of the Quran.

The key words in this Hadith are (share) "شَارِكُوا" and (livelihood) "الرِّزْقُ". The word "شَارِكُوا" comes from the root word "شَرَكَ" which means to share or participate. It implies the act of joining someone in their wealth or possessions. The word "الرِّزْقُ" refers to sustenance or livelihood, encompassing all forms of material blessings that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) bestows upon His creation.

To understand the significance of this Hadith, we can turn to the Quran for guidance. In Surah Al-Hashr (59:7), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

And what Allah restored to His Messenger from the people of the towns - it is for Allah and for the Messenger and for [his] near relatives and orphans and the [stranded] traveler - so that it will not be a perpetual distribution among the rich from among you.

This verse highlights the importance of distributing wealth among various segments of society, including the Prophet (), his family, orphans, and travelers. It emphasizes the need to share wealth and prevent it from becoming concentrated in the hands of a few individuals.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Hashr (59:9), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,

And [also for] those who were settled in the Home (i.e., Medina) and [adopted] the faith before them. They love those who emigrated to them and find not any want in their breasts of what the emigrants were given but give [them] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful.

This verse highlights the selflessness and generosity of the Ansar (the residents of Medina) who welcomed and supported the Muhajirun (the emigrants from Mecca). They shared their wealth and resources with the Muhajirun, even though they themselves were in need. This exemplifies the spirit of sharing and selflessness that Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) encourages in the Hadith.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) advises Muslims to share with those who have an abundant livelihood because they are more likely to receive further blessings and increase in their own share of wealth. This is because Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) rewards generosity and selflessness. When we share with others, especially those who are already blessed, we demonstrate gratitude to Allah and acknowledge that all blessings come from Him. This act of sharing not only benefits the recipient but also opens doors for us to receive more blessings from Allah.

Moreover, sharing with those who have abundant livelihood promotes social cohesion and reduces inequality within the community. It fosters a sense of unity and brotherhood among Muslims, as they come together to support one another. By participating in the wealth of others, we create a more equitable society where everyone has access to basic needs and opportunities.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) urges Muslims to share with those who have an abundant livelihood. This act of sharing aligns with the teachings of the Quran, which emphasize the importance of distributing wealth and resources among different segments of society. By participating in the wealth of others, we not only demonstrate gratitude to Allah but also promote social cohesion and reduce inequality. Let us strive to embody the spirit of sharing and generosity, following the example set by Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) and the teachings of the Quran. May Allah bless us with the ability to share and may He increase our own share of blessings.
