Hadith #11086

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds, and blessings be upon Muhammad (ﷺ) and his pure progeny, the Ahl al-Bayt, as well as his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "القِحَةُ عُنْوانُ الشَّرِّ۔" This can be translated as

Impudence is the symbol of evil.

To fully understand the significance of this statement, let us delve into the important words used in this Hadith.

The word (al-qihah) "القِحَةُ" refers to impudence or insolence. It signifies the act of displaying disrespectful behavior, arrogance, and a lack of regard for others. O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers.

It emphasizes that such behavior is not befitting of a believer and is considered disobedience to Allah. And do not walk upon the earth exultantly. Indeed, you will never tear the earth [apart], and you will never reach the mountains in height.
