Hadith #10824

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. Peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

The best choice is making friends with the virtuous.

This Hadith emphasizes the importance of choosing righteous companions and surrounding ourselves with individuals who possess noble qualities and virtues.

Let us delve deeper into the words of this Hadith. The Arabic word (muwaddatu) "مُوادَّةُ" refers to the act of befriending or making friends. And keep yourself patient [by being] with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His countenance.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Furqan (25:27), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) warns against the company of those who lead others astray, saying,

And [the Day] when the wrongdoer will bite on his hands [in regret] he will say, 'Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way.'

This verse serves as a reminder of the consequences of choosing the wrong companions, as it can lead one astray and cause regret in the Hereafter.

On the other hand, choosing companions who lack moral values and righteousness can lead to negative consequences. Such individuals may influence us to engage in sinful activities, compromise our principles, and deviate from the path of righteousness. Therefore, it is crucial for Muslims to be cautious and discerning when selecting their friends and associates.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the importance of choosing virtuous companions.
