Hadith #6706

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. May peace and blessings be upon the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his purified progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

لاشافِعَ أنْجَحُ مِنَ الاِعْتِذارِ۔

This can be translated as,

There is no intercessor more successful than apology.

Let us delve into the meaning of this enlightening saying. The word (shafi'a) "شافِعَ" refers to an intercessor, someone who mediates or pleads on behalf of another. The word (anjah) "أنْجَحُ" means successful or effective. And the word (i'tizar) "اِعْتِذارِ" means apology or seeking forgiveness.

And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Hujurat, Allah states, (Quran 49:11)

O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers

This verse emphasizes the importance of seeking forgiveness and avoiding harm to others through insults or offensive behavior.

From these verses, we can understand that seeking forgiveness and making amends is not only a means of rectifying our relationship with Allah, but also a way to improve our interactions with others. Apologizing and seeking forgiveness can mend broken relationships, heal wounds, and foster unity among Muslims.
