Hadith #9888

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

كُلُّ مُمْتَنِع صَعْبٌ مَنالُهُ ومَرامُهُ۔

This Hadith can be translated as,

Every inaccessible thing is difficult to obtain and seek.

To understand the profound wisdom behind this statement, let us delve into the meanings of the key words in this Hadith.

The word (mumtani') "مُمْتَنِع" refers to something that is inaccessible or unattainable. It implies a state or condition that is beyond reach or difficult to approach. This can be understood as a goal, desire, or objective that seems out of reach due to various obstacles or challenges.

The words (manaluhu) "مَنالُهُ" and (maramuhu) "مَرامُهُ" both refer to obtaining and seeking. They emphasize the process of striving and working towards the desired objective. These words indicate that the journey towards attaining the inaccessible is not only difficult but also requires continuous effort and determination.

To further understand the wisdom behind this Hadith, let us turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) reminds us in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 286,

Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear.

In Surah Al-Ankabut, verse 2, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

Do the people think that they will be left to say, 'We believe' and they will not be tried?

This verse reminds us that trials and difficulties are an integral part of our journey in this world. It is through these challenges that we are tested, purified, and grow spiritually. Therefore, when we encounter hardships in our pursuit of the inaccessible, we should view them as opportunities for growth and development.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) serves as a reminder for Muslims that the path to attaining our goals and aspirations is not always easy.
