Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

Verily Allah, the Glorified, loves everyone who is open-handed and strong in faith.

Let us delve into the significance of this Hadith in light of the Quran.

Firstly, let us examine the key words in this Hadith. The word (samih) "سَمِحِ" refers to someone who is open-handed, generous, and giving. This person possesses a noble character and willingly shares their blessings with others. The word (hariz) "حَرِيزِ" means someone who is strong in faith, steadfast, and resolute in their belief in Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). This person remains firm in their devotion to Allah, even in the face of challenges and adversity.

To further understand the significance of this Hadith, let us turn to the Quran for guidance. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) repeatedly emphasizes the virtues of generosity and steadfastness in faith. In Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah says, (2:195)

And spend in the way of Allah and do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction. And do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good

This verse highlights the importance of being open-handed and giving in the cause of Allah, as it is an act of righteousness that is beloved to Him.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Hajj, Allah says, (22:38)

Indeed, Allah defends those who have believed. Indeed, Allah does not like everyone treacherous and ungrateful

This verse emphasizes the significance of being strong in faith and steadfast in one's belief in Allah. It reminds us that Allah dislikes those who are ungrateful and betray their faith.

Now, let us reflect on the enlightening message of this Hadith. Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) teaches us that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) loves those who possess both generosity and strong faith. This means that a true believer should not only be generous in giving to others but also remain steadfast in their devotion to Allah.

When a person is open-handed, they willingly share their blessings with others, whether it be wealth, knowledge, or kindness. They understand that everything they have is a gift from Allah and they have a responsibility to use it for the betterment of others. By being generous, they emulate the qualities of Allah, who is the Most Generous and the Bestower of blessings.

On the other hand, being strong in faith means having unwavering belief in Allah and His teachings. It means remaining steadfast in the face of trials and tribulations, and not compromising one's principles and values. A person with strong faith seeks to please Allah in all aspects of their life and strives to fulfill their obligations as a servant of Allah.

The combination of generosity and strong faith is a powerful one. When a person is open-handed and strong in faith, they become a source of goodness and righteousness in society. Their generosity not only benefits those who receive their charity but also inspires others to follow their example. Their strong faith gives them the strength and resilience to overcome challenges and remain committed to their beliefs.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) teaches us that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) loves those who are open-handed and strong in faith. By being generous and steadfast in our belief, we can strive to attain the love and pleasure of Allah. Let us strive to embody these qualities in our lives and become a means of goodness and righteousness in the world. May Allah grant us the ability to be open-handed and strong in faith.
