Hadith #4930

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. Peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

In this profound Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), he highlights the divine prescription of Islam by Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) and the ease with which its laws have been made. Furthermore, Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the strength and resilience of the pillars of Islam against those who oppose and wage war against it.

Let us delve deeper into the key words of this Hadith. The word (shara'a) "شَرَعَ" means to prescribe or legislate. It refers to the divine legislation of Islam by Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ), encompassing its laws, principles, and guidance for humanity. The word (Islam) "إسْلامَ" refers to the complete submission and surrender to the will of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). It encompasses faith, worship, and righteous conduct.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) then mentions that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) has made the laws of Islam (sahhala) "سَهَّلَ", which means to make something easy and accessible. This highlights the mercy and compassion of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) towards His creation, as He has made the practice of Islam manageable and attainable for all individuals, regardless of their circumstances.

To support this notion of ease in Islam, we find numerous verses in the Quran. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:185):

Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship.

This verse emphasizes that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) desires ease for His believers and does not burden them beyond their capacity.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) further states that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) has (a'azza) "أعَزَّ" the pillars of Islam. The word (a'azza) "أعَزَّ" means to strengthen, fortify, or make firm. This signifies the resilience and steadfastness of the fundamental principles and practices of Islam, which cannot be weakened or undermined by those who oppose or wage war against it.

The strengthening of the pillars of Islam is evident in the Quran as well. In Surah Al-Hajj (22:40), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says:

And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.

This verse assures the believers that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) will strengthen and support them in their adherence to Islam, even in the face of opposition.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) enlightening Hadith in this Hadith serves as a reminder to Muslims of the divine origin and ease of Islam, as well as the unwavering strength of its pillars. It encourages us to embrace and practice Islam wholeheartedly, knowing that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) has made it accessible and fortified it against any attempts to undermine its teachings.
