Hadith #3556

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

This world is filled with tribulations [and] stricken with tragedies and calamities.

The word (masa'ib) "مَصَائِبِ" in the Hadith refers to tribulations or hardships that one encounters in life. Similarly, in Surah Al-Ankabut (29:2-3), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,

Do the people think that they will be left to say, 'We believe' and they will not be tried? But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars.

These verses highlight the purpose behind trials, which is to distinguish the true believers from the hypocrites.
